...Calls for Submission of Heroes’ Biographies, Cultural and Community Heritage Materials

The National President of Ọmọ Ibile Igbomina, Sir Bisi Fakayode, has announced that the official website of Ọmọ Ibile Igbomina will be formally launched on October 1, 2026.

The website is designed to serve as a comprehensive digital platform for preserving, promoting and showcasing the rich history, culture, traditions, values and achievements of the Igbomina people, while providing a lasting repository of knowledge for present and future generations.

In preparation for the launch, Sir Fakayode has called on all Igbomina indigenes, communities and stakeholders, both at home and in the diaspora, to submit the biographies of notable Igbomina heroes, leaders and elders, both living and departed, whose contributions have significantly impacted the development and progress of Igbomina Land.

Among the notable departed heroes whose biographies are being requested are Chief John Gbenle Ekunnrin of Oke-Ode, Prince Moses Aransiola Olarewaju, formal Minister from Omu-Aran of their blessed memory alongside several other distinguished personalities whose legacies continue to resonate across Igbomina communities.

The call also extends to living Igbomina personalities who have made and continue to make, significant contributions to the advancement of the people. They include Alh. (Chief) AbdulRaheem Amoo Oladimeji, OFR, FNAEAP, Prince (Chief) Samuel Adedoyin, OFR, Bishop David O. Oyedepo among others.

Sir Fakayode further urged communities that are yet to respond to the earlier call for the submission of the histories of Communities and biographies of their Traditional Rulers to do so promptly. Such submissions should be accompanied by relevant photographs and other materials that capture the cultural and historical heritage of the respective communities.

He stressed that the initiative is not limited to biographies alone, urging individuals and communities to submit other valuable historical and cultural materials capable of enriching the digital archive and providing a comprehensive representation of Igbomina heritage.

All submissions must be received on or before September 8, 2026, by 12:00 noon. Materials received after the deadline may not be considered for inclusion in the October 1 website launch.

The President emphasized that documenting the stories, sacrifices, achievements and contributions of Igbomina heroes and communities is a collective responsibility.

He noted that preserving history is essential to safeguarding the identity, values and legacy of a people, stressing that a people who preserve their history preserve their identity and secure their legacy for generations yet unborn.

He therefore called on all Ọmọ Ibile Igbomina to embrace the initiative and contribute meaningful content towards building a credible, comprehensive and enduring digital heritage of Igbomina Land.
